McDavid's Heroics Lead Oilers to Stanley Cup Final
Edmonton Oilers Defeat Dallas Stars 2-1 in Game 6 of Western Conference Final
Connor McDavid scored a goal and assisted on another as the Edmonton Oilers defeated the Dallas Stars 2-1 in Game 6 of the Western Conference Final on Friday night. The win sends the Oilers to the Stanley Cup Final for the first time since 2006.
McDavid's Goal and Assist
McDavid opened the scoring for the Oilers just over seven minutes into the first period. He took a pass from Leon Draisaitl and fired a shot past Stars goaltender Jake Oettinger. McDavid's assist came on Zach Hyman's goal in the third period, which proved to be the game-winner.
Skinner's Stellar Performance
Stuart Skinner made 34 saves for the Oilers, including several key stops in the third period when the Stars were pressing for the tying goal. Skinner's performance was especially impressive considering that he was making his first start of the series.
Oilers on the Verge of Stanley Cup
The Oilers now lead the series 4-2 and can clinch the Stanley Cup with a win in Game 7 on Sunday night. The Stars, meanwhile, will need to win Game 7 to force a Game 8.
