LSU Beats Out Miami, Auburn for Elite Defensive Tackle

LSU has added another big recruit to its already impressive 2023 signing class. On Tuesday, four-star defensive tackle Emery Jones committed to the Tigers over Miami, Auburn, and other top programs.
Jones is a 6-foot-4, 310-pound defensive tackle from North Caddo High School in Vivian, Louisiana. He is rated as the No. 11 defensive tackle in the country and the No. 3 player in the state of Louisiana by 247Sports.
A top-100 recruit, Jones had offers from all of the top programs in the country, but he ultimately decided to stay close to home and play for the Tigers.
Jones is a versatile defensive lineman who can play either nose tackle or defensive end. He is a powerful run-stopper who can also get after the quarterback. In his junior season, Jones recorded 50 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, and five sacks.
Jones is the latest in a long line of talented defensive linemen to sign with LSU. The Tigers have one of the best defensive lines in the country, and Jones is expected to be a major contributor in Baton Rouge.
